The Fall holidays seem to come around faster and faster each year. If you are looking for a great way to keep these kiddos entertained leading up to or on Thanksgiving, give these Free Thanksgiving Coloring Pages a whirl.
And along with the coloring, throw in some Thanksgiving trivia for educational purposes.
Thanksgiving Trivia
- Turkey was not served at the “first Thanksgiving meal” between Pilgrim settlers and the local Wampanoag Indians in the 1600s. Instead, it is thought that guests feasted on a variety of other wild animals (Brittanica).
- Butterball actually offers a Turkey Talk Line. For more than 30 years, this hotline has been open in November and December to answer turkey-related questions. Modern day options for speaking with the company’s turkey experts include phone, online chat, and email. You can even use Amazon Alexa to get connected (Butterball).
- It was until 1863 that a National Thanksgiving Day was established to be held each year in November. President Abraham Lincoln did so (History.com)
- The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is tied for the second oldest Thanksgiving day parade in the US. In 2020, the parade will be television-only for the first time in its history (Macy’s).
- Fun runs and road races held on Thanksgiving are often referred to as Turkey Trots.
Thanksgiving Coloring Pages
I have created 3 black and white, 8″ by 10″ inch coloring sheets to spark your kids’ imagination. They can easily be printed off on copy paper on a standard printer. Put them on some card stock and the kids can color Thanksgiving gits for relatives and friends. All I ask is that you print these coloring pages for personal use only. They are not for commercial distribution.
