As a nation, we are a few more weeks into our new COVID-19 routines and our stay at home shopping lists reflect that. A few weeks ago, I wrote about what Amazon Bestsellers and Movers and Shakers had to say about how Coronavirus was altering shopping lists, especially in some unexpected ways.
While at that time, panic buying was in full swing for items such as hand sanitizer, soap, and toilet paper, buying patterns have shifted a bit. People are still on the lookout for these essentials, but are also focusing their attention on items to help them shelter in place for the longer haul.

One striking example is in the kitchen department where things have gone back to basics. Rather than buying the newest and flashiest kitchen gadgets, shoppers fill their virtual carts with baking sheets, can openers, kitchen scales and parchment paper. And the things that they need to makes lots and lots of bread! Yeast sales are through the roof.
Along with settling into the kitchen, new home based workers are settling into their home offices. Drawer organizers, dry erase boards, pens, rubber bands, staplers, and tape rank among the items with highest popularity. And “tush comfort” chair cushions continue to fly out of the warehouses.
With gyms and parks in many places closed, you can tell that people are looking for simple ways to exercise at home. Sales of fitness equipment such as balance balls, dumbbells, resistance bands, and yoga mats continue to trend higher.
Stay At Home Entertainment Supplies
With everybody and their brother having purchased sidewalk chalk during the last few weeks, new batches are going to take several weeks to arrive. Washable paint is the new substitute. The driveway and sidewalk decoration can continue. To go along with folks putting bears in their windows comes other window decorations. Window art kits are best sellers.
Board games are all the rage, especially some of the unique choices, such as Throw Throw Burrito. It is billed as a fast paced “dodgeball card game using burritos”.
And yes, apparently literally bored with their own lives, people are still snatching up spy cams and binoculars to see for themselves what others are up to.
Grooming Supplies
Just as hair cutting tutorials are hot on YouTube, so are purchases of hair grooming supplies for humans and pets.
And Finally Coronavirus Branded Merchandise
Yes. T-shirts, signs, ornaments and more are already popping up on the market.
And that it the latest on the state of “Stay at Home” buying. Look for another update in the near future.
