Don’t Get Cutesy.
Now is not the time to whip out those rhyming board names or unique ones that only mean something to a few people. Remember, that first and foremost, Pinterest operates as a visual search engine. Your board names should match terms for which people are searching.
Take Your Cues From Pinterest
One of the things that I love about Pinterest is that the people behind it are super helpful. If you know where to look, they give you big hints about how to name your boards.
The magic lies in looking at Pinterest’s organizational system.
Categories
When content flows into Pinterest and the subjects that it covers are determined, then it is grouped into one of 30 plus broad categories. These categories range from animals and pets to women’s fashion.
Sub-categories
Click on any of the broad categories and you will see a number of sub-categories at the top of the page that comes up.
Take what you know about your audience or desired audience and use that to match their interests to board names. Once, you have been an active Pinterest Business Account holder for a while, Pinterest Antalytics can help with that.
Pinterest Board Names Examples
Let’s take a look at a few examples.
My first example audience loves taking on home decorating projects, especially country style.
I will use a mix of general and specific topics to name my boards based on Pinterest category and keyword suggestions.
Good more general boards include Home Decor, Country Decor, and Home Improvement. Some attractive more specific Pinterest board name options include Country Farmhouse Decor, Primitive Country Decorating, French Country Decorating, and Rustic Country Decor.
In the second example, my audience has multiple interests. They love dogs, enjoy doing family activities, and look out for diy crafts they can do with the kids.
Good general board names that will appeal to this audience include Animals and Pets, DIY and Crafts, and Kids and Parenting. More specific PInterest board names could include Family Activities, Dogs, DIY With Kids, and Summer Activities.
Look To Other Pinners For Inspiration
Need additional board name inspiration? Look to fellow Pinterest Content Creators. One easy way is to type in a potential board name into the search box. When the results come up, slide over to the drop down menu just to the right of the search box. Click down the pull down menu until you get to “Boards” and click on that. You can then see other people who are using that board name.
Click on one of those boards in the top row and you will then be taken to that specific board. To the right of the board name you will see an icon for that person’s whole profile. Click that and you will be taken to their overall profile.
From there, click on “Boards” under their profile header to see all their boards. Viola. Additional board name inspiration.
As you can see, by just knowing where to look, you will find all the information that you need to create great Pinterest Board Names.
