Between the holidays and vacations, plenty of occasions arise when you may need to travel with pets. While on the road or at your destination, pet friendly hotels may be needed.
How do you score the best deals on places to stay with your pet while away from home. Here are 3 ways.
1.Start your search through a website that show pet-friendly hotel results. Two sites that I find to be really helpful are Pet Friendly Hotels and BringFido. Pet Friendly Hotels has partnered with PricelinePartnerNetwork to provide a very user friendly search engine for pet-friendly hotels by city and dates. The search results clearly show pet policies of the individual hotel options and also offer general ratings of the properties.
BringFido offers similarly easy to use search features for hotels, but does also include search for pet-friendly campgrounds. Additionally, the site offers the added bonus of listing family pet friendly hiking trails and off-lease dog parks for some exercise while traveling.
Once you have the hotel results from the above sites and can compare costs, including pet deposits required, I advise calling the hotel that you want to stay at directly and confirming the pet policies and any deposits required. It may be easiest to book directly through the hotel, as well, if rates are comparable or better than these specialty sites.
2.If you plan to travel with a pet frequently, sign up for hotel membership programs. Some of the perks of these programs are that you earn points towards free hotel nights and will be notified of member-only discounts. Also, members are sometimes given free extras for their rooms and pet names may be stored in hotel computers so that employees can greet your pet by name upon arrival.
3. Check the benefits for any association or civic organization that you are involved in to see if they offer discount codes for pet-friendly hotels. AAA is a good example of such an association. By entering your member number into many hotels’ online forms, you can obtain special discount rates.
As you can see, with a little research, you can save money on your temporary digs while away from home. For more information on saving on pet-related expenses, have a look at 6 Ways to Save on Pet Toys and Supplies.

I am visiting from Frugal Friday Link Up Party. I have three fur babies…let me tell you how impossible it is to find pet friendly hotels in Indiana. Thanks for the tips definitely will have to try them the next time we travel. I hate boarding my babies.
