According to World Pet Market Trends, global spending on pet supplies is approximately $96 billion. Spending on our furry children can take a real bite out of household budgets if we are not careful. Knowing some pet savings secrets can really help keep the cash outflow in check.
Here are ways to save on pet toys and other pet supplies.
- Match your pet toy choices to your pet’s personality and traits. For example, if your beloved animal is an aggressive chewer, most padded stuffed animals are not good buys. Your pet will have those toys ripped open and flung all over the place in a matter of minutes or hours. Cash down the drain in a hurry.
- Sign up for loyalty programs for toy brands that work for you pet. By signing up on brand websites to be part of their clubs or receive their e-mail newsletters, you generally will receive special offers and news of promotions that the general website surfer will not. Some brands will even ask their loyal patrons to try out new products for them or participate in online focus groups to develop new offerings. Also, do not forget to enroll in loyalty programs at any bricks and mortar stores that you use.
- Check Ebay or other reputable online auction sites for deals. The key here is to stick with reputable sites. You can score some good deals and quickly learn which sellers provide the best service.
- Visit printable and mobile coupon sites. A variety of manufacturers offer pet-related coupons through these sites. Recommended sites include Coupons.com, RedPlum, and SmartSource.com.
- Follow bloggers who focus on pet savings. These individuals specialize in finding and bringing you information about the best pet deals. An excellent blog to check out is Woof Woof Mama.
- Explore pet-focused daily deal sites. These deal sites are similar to Groupon, but focus exclusively on pet savings deals. Sites to consider include Coupaw, Doggyloot, and LeLe Pets.

Great tips! I need to check out some of those sites – they’re new to me 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Fun sites to check out and can mean some good savings too. Thanks much. By the way, your site is one of my favorites to pin from.
Great suggestions. My dogs need to chew. Their best toys are a beef marrow bone (right from the meat dept) that I have precooked and then frozen. I must spend $15 a week on them but it is better than them finding other things to chew! I would love to find a way to save $$ on that.
Thanks for the links to the sites. These are all great tips. I have a new Labrador puppy who is quite the chewer. I’m going to need a few more chew toys. I found you at the Family Fun Friday Party. I’d love for you to link to this to my Just Get Real Friday Party on my site.
Thanks so much. Have hopped over and linked up.
Thanks so much for linking up with us at the Let’s Get Real Friday link party. I hope you’ll join us again on Friday.
See you back again on Friday.
My dog LOVES soft toys but she chews them up so quickly! I need to remember to use my Petco dollars before they expire! Great ideas and tip! Thanks!
Love the firehose toys for diy sat Petco. They can chew on them so much longer without tearing up.
A lot of great tips. I live in a rural area so there are not a lot of specialty pet shops like PetCo or PetsMart near me. My older dog doesn’t care too much about toys but my younger one goes through them pretty quickly no matter what brand I purchase. I have receive some pretty high end toys to write reviews on and she’s still managed to destroy them. One thing I used to do when my older dog and her brother (who has since passed away) were younger was save old tshirts and blankets. I would use my sewing machine to make new toys using the insides of the ones they destroyed and I had repaired too many times to count. Stopping by from the Lets Get Real party.
Thanks for sharing your great idea about taking old t-shirts and blankets and making dog toys out of them and the stuffing from the old toys.
