Off-season travel is a great way to hold your travel budget in check. Both prices and crowds are smaller during the offseason at destinations around the world. You just have to be willing to do a little planning ahead to research hours of attractions, weather considerations, and other conditions that may differ in the off-season.
Marriot.com created a neat infographic showing the off-season in various places around the globe. A google search can lead you easily to information about the off-season at your desired destination.
Here are list of travel sites that can help you find the best bargains for the vacation that you have been eyeing.
- Expedia (This site offers pricing information for flights, hotels, rental cars, cruises and vacation packages.)
- Hotels.com (Hotel deals and package deals with flights are available here.)
- KAYAK (Here you can compare various travel sites at once. Also, set up a price alert to notify you of flight prices changes so that you can book at best prices.)
- Priceline.com (Pay set travel prices on specific locations or name your own prices to try for better pricing.)
- TripAdvisor (You can book your trip, as well as, get review information from other travelers.)
Another option to consider is a home exchange. Be sure to check out reviews and feedback from previous customers on any exchange service that you use. One place that you can start looking at some of the types of listings available is HomeExchange.com.

Have you ever looked up vacation rentals or heard of Airbnb.com. They both allow you to get housing for discounted rates. These are great sites. Thanks for sharing and linking up with Countdown in Style! Don’t forget to come back on Friday to see if you were featured!

I usually use expedia but I’ve been hearing good things about Kayak so I might have to try it next time I go on a trip! Thanks for sharing on the DBB!
I have found Kayak to be quite helpful. Thanks much for your thoughts. Appreciate you!
Hey! It looks like I should keep getting those Expedia emails. I’ve contemplated unsubscribing but from the looks of this post it sounds like I may be able to get a nice deal sent to me one day. Thanks for sharing this post with us too at Countdown in Style!
Countdown in Style is a regular stop for me. Thanks so much for hosting!
Hi there, I’m stopping by from the Create It Thursday link party. This is a great post! My husband and I travel A LOT (as in 2 – 3 times per month) and we use all the sites you mentioned. We also like Hotwire.com for the US and for Europe, we use Booking.com and HRS.com. Plus, the ITA Travel Matrix is awesome for finding cheap flights! I once found a round trip flight from Geneva Switzerland to Boston to LA and back to Geneva for $1200 with them.
Thanks so much for adding the travel sites that you use to this list. Greatly appreciate your input.
Thanks for the tips. We love to travel and are always looking for great deals.
You are so welcome! So much great stuff to see out there isn’t there.
great Tips! Especially since I am trying to plan a bit of a couple only retreat for the Hubby and I this could be really useful…Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Great tips – Thank you for linking to the Weekend re-Treat Link Party.
Always excited to link up the Weekend Re-Treat Party.
We used this method of traveling off season for the first time over the holidays and saved a bundle and STILL had an amazing time.
Something so sweet about having a great time without breaking the bank.
I love this – thank you for sharing your off-season travel tips. I love traveling but can’t travel as much as I would like to. Maybe I will be able to hit up a few more spots. Happy SITS day!!
Always love sharing tips that may help save a little cash.
Happy SITS Day! I am always on the lookout for bargain travel. I would add… state parks! They are a great deal and often nearly as impressive as the big national parks but without being overrun with tourists or the big price tag.
The suggestion of state parks is a great addition to the list.
