Brushing your teeth twice a day and getting regular dental checkups can pay off with more than a pretty smile. These good habits can mean you save big money over time.
The American Dental Association notes that proper, regular teeth brushing and dental care are key in preventing gingivitis and tooth decay. Ask any dentist, preventative care is much cheaper than filling cavities, pulling teeth and doing root canals (Hurts just thinking about).
Also, more and more research indicates that poor mouth health is potentially linked to other problems in the body. One idea being that inflammation in one location in the body may be linked to inflammation elsewhere. As the AMA puts it, the mouth is the “gateway” to the body.
And for those of us who are parents, we know that children often mimic our habits. If we practice good dental care on a regular basis and show our kiddos how to do so, we can get them started on making tooth health a priority.
