Looking for a one pot meal that is great for weeknights or sports weekends. Check out this one pot chili recipe. I originally found the recipe on the back of a Del Monte Can. I have made this dish many times over the years. I love its hearty flavor and the simplicity of preparation. Literally, only one pan used for prep.
3/4 to 1 pound of lean ground beef
1 15 oz. can of kidney beans drained
1 8 oz. can of tomato sauce
1 can of Del Monte Zesty Chili Style Diced Tomatoes (the key to the dish)
Brown the meat first, then add the beans, tomato sauce, and diced tomatoes to the pot. Bring to a low simmer and let go for 10 minutes or so. It is good to use a pot or pan with lid as the chili will sometimes bubble as it is simmering.
If you like your chili on very spicy side, you may want to add some more chili powder. Also, you can enhance this dish with sauteed onions or bell peppers. Do make sure that they are sauteed so that they will be not be raw and crunchy. Garnish with sour cream, cheese, avocados, etc..
(I sometimes substitute ground white turkey for the beef for a lighter option.)
I would love to hear what you like to garnish chili with. Please send me a comment.
